Atlanta’s Muelas have quickly drawn well-deserved attention for their debut EP, Bellow, released earlier this year. Their wall-of-sound hardcore—built on rhythmic grooves and razor-sharp textures—made them a natural fit to open for Angel Du$t and Agnostic Front at The Masquerade.
Muelas’ set captured the raw spectrum of grief, anger, and joy they’ve fast become known for. Singer and violinist Susy Reyes didn’t hold back on the inspiration behind their music: fierce social and political resistance in the name of equality, rights, and justice. Hardcore has always been political, and while too many bands forget that, Muelas have no problem driving the message home. Capping off their set with a compelling new track, they made one thing clear: they’re just getting started.
