Austin punks Tear Dungeon have released their new album, Squirm, out now via TODO Records, the follow-up to 2022’s Carl. The band’s most expansive North American tour to date kicks off with an album release show October 9 at 29th Street Ballroom in Austin and stops in Atlanta on November 12 at Drunken Unicorn. Squirm turns the band’s sludge-soaked riffs and glass-gargling vocals toward police brutality, empty piety, and the rot underneath modern American life across twelve tracks. It was tracked by Stuart Sikes, mixed by John Michael Landon, and mastered by Greg Obis.
The album was previewed with “I’m Not Dead Yet,” whose video was filmed at a show where the crowd and band demolished the now-defunct DIY venue Ghost Cat Lounge, followed by “Freak Flag” and “Red Flag.” Known for gimp masks, theatrical bloodshed, and destructive live shows, the band has shared stages with Amyl and the Sniffers, High on Fire, Osees, and Negative Approach, and recently signed with Pitch and Smith for UK/EU booking.
