Less Alone Fest returns for its second year this October 2-4, bringing three days of DIY punk music to Waller’s Coffee Shop in Decatur with more than 30 local and regional bands. Organized around the idea of building community and connection through music, the fest is meant to welcome both first-time showgoers and longtime scene veterans alike. “Booking shows and just generally being involved in a music community has allowed me to meet so many folks and make lifelong friends from all around the world,” event organizer Dakota Floyd shares. “Doing this has made me feel so much less isolated in a world that is becoming increasingly hostile to weirdos like us.”
Beyond the music, the weekend includes an artist and vintage market presented by Laura Wilson of Cabbagetown Creative Markets, flash tattoos from Anna of Kingdom Tattoo on Saturday afternoon, and a harm reduction and bone marrow donor registration table from Punk Rock Saves Lives on Saturday evening. All proceeds from the weekend go toward Waller’s rent fund, helping keep the venue running as an accessible, all-ages gathering space for the community. Last year’s fest raised more than $1,000 for the cause on top of a full weekend of rental fees and increased business for the shop.
