Los Angeles band Starling has released their new EP, Plexus, out now via broke Records, alongside an official music video for “Sunbeam” that blends live footage with stop-motion animation inspired by The Princess and the Pea and Where the Wild Things Are. The band supports Cryogeyser on tour this fall, stopping in Atlanta on October 6 at The Masquerade (Altar), before joining She’s Green and Witches Exist for a second leg later in the month. Frontwoman Kasha Souter Willett says the EP’s songs, including “Sunbeam” and “See the Water,” had been part of the band’s live set for a while, while “571” and “Anti-sonata” were born in the shed where they recorded.
Plexus was previewed across four singles throughout 2026, from the fast-tracked “571” in February to the double single “Anti-sonata” / “Of Today & Canon” in March and “See the Water” in July. Entirely self-produced and mixed by drummer Erik Sathrum Johnson, the EP follows Starling’s 2025 record, Forgive Me, and finds the band leaning into faster, more pop-minded songs after experimenting with longer material on their last release.
